Bio
Dr. Liliana R. Tomescu (formerly Tarba) is a Registered Clinical Psychologist in Ontario, Canada. She holds an MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from York University, where she trained under Dr. Leslie Greenberg, the primary developer of Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
Originally trained in psychodynamic theory and practice in her native Romania, Dr. Tomescu has more than a decade of clinical experience working with individuals affected by complex trauma, attachment disruptions, oppression, political trauma, and other adverse life events.
Her scholarly work focuses on psychotherapy process research, particularly the role of adaptive emotional expression—such as anger—in healing depression from interpersonal injuries. She is the recipient of several academic awards, including the Scholars Award from APA Division 39, and co-authored Supervision Essentials for Emotion-Focused Therapy (APA, 2016) with Dr. Greenberg.
Dr. Tomescu currently provides psychodynamic and EFT-based therapy at her private practice, Introspect Psychology (www.introspectpsychology.ca), in Toronto. Her expertise lies in helping adults navigate maladaptive relational patterns, attachment difficulties, and the lasting effects of complex childhood and societal trauma.
