Early Career Committee
The Early Career Committee enthusiastically invites interested members to share your thoughts and to collaborate on projects and research.
The Early Career Committee seeks to enhance the experiences of division members who are within their first ten years after training. The committee works to identify and represent the interests of early career members, facilitate participation in specialized conference programming, and contribute to policy making and recruitment endeavors of the division. We aim to engage members in the early stages of their careers in a dialogue about their unique career pathways, identity development and professional needs. We actively seek collaboration among graduate students and institute candidates to increase visibility and to build relationships in the psychoanalytic community.
"Racially Queer: The Search for the Mixed-Race Experience in Psychoanalytic Literature" by Alexandra P. Jamai has been awarded the 2017 Early Career Paper Prize. The award is presented at the President’s Reception for Graduate Students, Early Career Professionals and Candidates at the Spring Meeting.
The Early Career Professional Paper Award is given to the best paper submission for the Div. 39 Spring Meeting by a participant who is within the first ten years after training.
We will continue to discuss ways in which we can apply the findings of the Diversity Task Force, in addition to our ongoing efforts:
To continue our efforts to help early career individuals find their way into Div. 39 in whatever roles suit their particular interests.
To continue to offer programming that is mindful of the diverse needs and interests of early career division members.
To continue our tradition of participating in the president’s reception and to find ways in which committee members can be more available and visible to ECs as potential resources.
To continue to develop the Early Career List-Serve.
To continue to work with the program committees to highlight and support EC submissions to the Spring Meeting and, in conjunction with the Editor of Psychoanalytic Psychology, to offer a prize for the best Early Career submission to the Spring Meeting, and collaborate with the author to bring the article to publication.
